Remote learning at its BEST

The remote learning experience with VSA Future is GREAT! I thought remote learning would be very challenging when I first heard about it – if it is challenging for adults to work from home, how could VSA Future manage so many kids at the same time? However, I am happily surprised – the classes have gone very well. Academically, we got the same classes and learning plans without any disruption. I appreciate my son has extra learning opportunities, and I now have some time to do my personal work, instead of turning on the TV to entertain him.

The online class is definitely a lifesaver for us during this challenging time!

I am a long-term customer of VSA Future. My three kids started their VSA learning experience at a young age and have been with this center for quite a while. Kudos to Ms. Julia and her staff for being flexible and the good quality of classes! Given the current environment where the on-site camp is not realistic, I am very excited that the center offers a virtual camp! Another great help just in time for working parents. It keeps them busy and they will continue to learn!

We see the difference!

My son has been taking VSA courses for years and we all have had very good experiences. First, my son enjoys the classes. The teachers are great and engage the students during each class. The director, Julia, is motivating and inspiring helping them to stay focused. We have absolutely seen the difference in just one year and he wouldn’t be where he is without VSA Future.

Sunshine Campers (Grade 1 & 2)

Our Sunshine curriculum is specially crafted for our youngest campers.

G1 campers build foundational skills in English, Math, and Reading & Writing.

During reading lessons, students listen to read alouds, ask and answer questions about key details in the text, and identify characters, settings, and major events in a story. In writing classes, students practice handwriting and use a combination of drawing, dictating, and writing to compose stories and other written pieces.

G2 students study the conventions of English grammar, capitalization, punctuation, and spelling.

In Reading & Writing, campers study genres ranging from poetry, fables, and plays to fiction and nonfiction, and practice valuable reading strategies through teacher-directed lessons, modeling, and guided reading.

Grade 3-8 Vocabulary

A rich vocabulary can enliven all aspects of a students life including communiation and writing.

VSA Vocabulary offers an engaging and new way of studying vocabulary that brings language to life. Instead of just memorizing spelling and definitions, vocabulary becomes alive and integrated into the students’ real-life experiences.

The class learns to use Greek and Latin roots to categorize unfamiliar words based on its function and part of speech, and they build connections to other age-appropriate vocabulary based on word roots. Studying word roots opens children’s eyes to new words, making vocabulary mastery easier, faster, and more enjoyable.

Guided group activities, independent practice, and homework assignments in sentence usage build a solid foundation in each unit. Interactive slides, vivid storytelling, and creative writing practice with new vocabulary makes each lesson a class to remember!

Grades 3–8 Public Speaking

At VSA Future, campers face the world head on.

Speaking boldly and clearly has never been more important than in the new flurry of video classes, meetings, and conversations. In our innovative Public Speaking course, students learn to project their voices and make their presence known, even through a computer screen.

Public Speaking builds a student’s ability to effectively argue an opinion, be persuasive, and hold an audience’s interest in a topic.

Grades 3–8 English, Writing, and Math

Become stronger thinkers and writers in Math and English/Reading & Writing.

Become stronger thinkers and writers in Math and English/Reading & Writing. campers are identifying imperative sentences, mastering the subjunctive, and crafting complex essays with a compelling thesis.

In Math, campers work to integrate mathematical thinking, data analysis, and a rigorous foundation in math principles, as well as problem-solving skills and creativity.

We prefer online classes!

Both my daughters have been attending VSA Future during the school year and summer programs and we are absolutely satisfied. With VSA’s small classes, systematically designed curriculum and high attention sessions, my daughters get lots of attention and have accelerated their learning at least one grade higher than their gifted public school class. We prefer the online classes over in person, as we save travel time for multiple activities throughout the day and the small classes give plenty of attention to my kids. What I appreciate most is the VSA philosophy: to motivate students as a whole person, instead of only focusing on academic advancement.
